HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR A COMMITTEE
A great way to help any organization is to volunteer your time. It's also a fabulous way to meet new friends and have a say-so in how things are run. Here's a rundown on some of the Pittsburgh Ski Club committees you could serve on:
Hospitality Committee
This committee helps to greet everyone who attends our functions. Most of the time, you're
only asked to spend 30 minutes or so at the desk. This way, you can help out without
sacrificing your own participation in the day's activity. Hospitality volunteers
take the entrance fee, issue door prize tickets, organize drawings, and write name tags.
When you work THIS desk, you can't help but meet EVERYONE who attends the function. It's a

Membership Committee
This committee has volunteers who work the entrance desk at monthly meetings and at a few
of the other activities. You can help your friends renew their membership and
explain the workings of our club to those new souls who haven't a clue about all the
interesting activities we engage in each month. In the next membership year, we hope to
increase our membership by several hundred! If you would like to serve on this committee,

Program Committee
The Program committee is the "think tank" that comes up with ideas for parties,
dances, hayrides, picnics, and all of the other activities we do. On this committee,
you'll help find people who are interested in setting up a special activity, such as a
pool party or a happy hour. By choosing good activities, you keep everyone's
interest and help the club to grow. Is there a particular activity that you think the club

Publicity Committee
Trying to "get the word out" is both challenging and fun. Our publicity
volunteers handle advertising, newsletter design and construction, our website, promos for
radio, TV, newspapers, etc. Perhaps you could help with public service announcements for
our not-for-profit club. Sometimes, we just need a big bunch of flyers to be designed,
printed, and distributed. If you're good at getting the message across, maybe this

Ski Instruction Committee
The Pittsburgh Ski Club is a SKI CLUB first and foremost. This committee helps to
secure reduced prices for instruction for absolute beginners and for those members who
want to improve their skiing with professional ski instructors at a reduced cost. There
are classes available for all levels of skiing ability. Volunteers are needed to help
organize classes and handle registration. If you would like to serve on this committee,

Racing Committee
The Pittsburgh Ski Club has an award-winning Race Team that we're very proud of. We often
hold the first-place trophy for the region. This committee helps to organization and
run both racing instruction and ski races. The PSC engages in ski competition with
the other ski clubs in the tri-state area. Males, females, youths, seniors, novices, and
seasoned pros are all welcome. Volunteers are needed for registration, organization, and

Travel Committee
The Pittsburgh Ski Club is very proud of its magnificent Travel Committee. We have
many ski trips to fabulous areas, and we organize trips to the shore in the Summer.
Volunteering for this committee will give you a lot of satisfaction in seeing a
fun-loving group of friends have a wonderful time over the weekend, or for a entire
week-long trip. You can rent buses, purchase a block of airline tickets, and reserve an
entire wing at the hotel. Remember, we're a BIG group. If you would like to serve on this
