“Catch the spirit” 87 Years, on and off the slopes
WELCOME TO THE PITTSBURGH SKI CLUB
The Pittsburgh Ski Club was founded on the evening of December 10, 1937, by three avid skiers — Bill Albert, Al Black, and Lars Eckwurtzel — as a non–profit organization to encourage skiing through instruction, ski trips, and racing programs. During the first year, the Club went from a dozen members to nearly two hundred, and has maintained a membership of between 400 and 1800 members during the last 30 years. The PSC membership runs from June 1 of the current year through May 31 of the next year.
Today, the PSC offers year-round activities on and off the slopes for its members and guests. The emphasis is not only on skiing/snowboarding but on a variety of sporting activities (biking, golfing, volleyball) and travel and social events.
For those interested in skiing or snowboarding, though, PSC IS THE CLUB FOR YOU. Affordable weekend and week-long ski trips are offered to members as well as local skiing/snowboarding and aprés–ski activities. Also, as a PSC member, you can also take advantage of ski or snowboard lessons or join the PSC Race Team for gate training, coaching, and races.
The Club is run entirely by member volunteers who organize and run the events and trips. We have members of all ages and our frequent events are as varied as our interests. Our wide range of activities guarantees that there is literally something in this Club for everyone. New and innovative ideas keep the Club moving forward while the friendliness of PSCers and the fun–loving–ever–so–young spirit continues to attract new members and keep many renewing members. These volunteers and the other PSC members are the “SPIRIT” of the Club.
The Pittsburgh Ski Club is a proud member of the Western Pennsylvania Ski Council and continues its commitment to skiing through its support and involvement with the other 16 ski clubs making up the WPSC.

As our very own master poet and Past President wrote:
I made a run and loved it so..
I took a friend so he would know.
“Two is company” and it’s true on skis
but the fun just grows when twos are threes
We caught a chair for one more,
looked around and we were four
And now when it snows and I ski
it’s the Pittsburgh Ski Club and me.
